Abstract:
A system is considered fault tolerant if the behaviour of the system, despite the failure of some of its components, is consistent with it’s specifications. Fault tolerant systems have the capability to function in the presence of fault. By employing fault tolerance, many potential failures are averted, thereby increasing the reliability. Another goal of fault tolerance is to increase the system availability, which is, increase the time for which the system is available for use services.
